Key Information

February

OPERATION PLENTIFUL PANTRY
February 2011 Goal – 150 Cans/Jars of Spaghetti Sauce
Thank you EUMC membership for responding to the third month of "OPERATION PLENTIFUL PAN-TRY." Our pantry has more chili!
The TLC Women's Group, in communication with Audrey Bell, Food Pantry Director, developed "OPERATION PLENTIFUL PANTRY" to encourage the congregation to systematically do-nate food items that do not last very long in the pantry.
January 2011's challenge is to acquire an additional 150 Cans/Jars of Chili. The collection will occur in the barrel outside the main sanctuary doors. Cans/jars of spaghetti sauce may be brought any Sunday during February or during the week. If donors prefer to write a check, please include a notation on the "memo line" that states "Food Pantry" and place it in the collection plate or drop it off at the church office during the week.
Our pantry usually runs out of spaghetti sauce because pasta and sauce are favorites! So, while grocery shopping this month, think "Italian" and pick up 2 extra cans/jars of spaghetti sauce at the supermarket!
Because many of you shop ahead and watch for sales, the following items will be highlighted in future months:
March- Canned tuna/chicken/meats
April - Box meals such as Hamburger Helper/Tuna Helper
May- Peanut Butter
June - Canned Vegetables: potatoes, carrots, spinach, peas
July - Canned Pasta: Ravioli, Spaghettios
August- Chicken and dumplings/ canned stews
September-Chili Beans
October- Tomatoes: Whole, diced, sliced
November- Jelly
December- Canned Fruits: pears, peaches, fruit cocktail

P. S. The food pantry ALWAYS
NEEDS peanut butter!

The EUMC Helping Hands Team, has over 20
EUMC members with a diverse set of skills who can take on such things as such as small electrical, carpentry and plumbing repairs, yard work, minor car repairs and repair advice, odd jobs, painting, driving people to appointments etc. If you would like to offer your skills you can contact Sue Engsberg at (314) 707 8733 or Larry Baner at (636) 273-6189.
The goal of this team is to assist people in our community who have limited resources and need some temporary help or odd jobs they might need to have done.
We have already reached out to the Eureka Fire District, the Bread Pantry, the Eureka and Pacific Senior Centers and the Circle of Concern. If you know someone who needs help you can have them contact us or we can call them.
