EUMC News! (Oct 18th, 2018)

Our Nominations and Leadership Development Team met in September and nominated several people to serve in key leadership areas beginning on January 1, 2019. These nominees were approved by our Leadership Team at our Annual Charge Conference on Saturday, October 13th.

Eureka UMC adopted a "Simplified Leadership Board" model several years ago. This is comprised of two unique teams of leaders. The first team is our Leadership Team. This team meets quarterly to assess the overall Mission of the church and to ensure that the Lead Pastor, Tim Schulte, and the Executive Pastor, Suzanne Nicholson, are accountable to their work and living into the Mission and Vision of Eureka UMC.  This team also has oversight of church property (Trustees), the church budget (Finance), and assessment of our Pastors (PPR-Pastor Parish Relations).

Here are the members of the 2019 Leadership Team:

Class of 2019

Larry Baner (LT Chair, PPR Chair, Trustees Chair)
Susan Dudley (PPR)
Andy Smola (Trustee)
Lisa Koltun (Finance)
Doug McVicar (Lay Leader)

Class of 2020

Sally Lippman (PPR)
Jeff Simmons (Trustee)
Carol Wellons (Finance)

Class of 2021

Todd Shelton (Finance)
Amanda Oldenberg (Finance)
Doug Stallman (Trustee and Lay Member to Annual Conference)
Amber Wood (PPR)

We would like to acknowledge and thank two members who will be moving off of the Leadership Team at the end of this year: Mike Butler and Andy Heinze. Thank you for your faithful service and leadership over the past several years!

The second board is the Nominations and Leadership Development Team. This team meets quarterly to identify and to train new leaders. This team, along with the Leadership Team, will be developing a system of Leadership Development at Eureka UMC based on one of our prescriptions from the HCI team. We began placing people on this team in 2018. Here are the members of the 2019 Nominations and Leadership Development Team:

Lead Pastor (Chairperson) Tim Schulte
Vice Chair (from LT) Larry Baner
Lay Leader Doug McVicar

We invite you to join us on Sunday as we continue our October series, "A Life That Leads...#follow"

Why do we gather for worship? What is going on? What is it all about? Many of us have been gathering on Sunday mornings for months, years, or even decades and have maybe wondered..."why"? This Sunday, Pastor Tim will be sharing a message about worship drawn from Luke 7:36-50. What can we learn from the unnamed woman in the text who literally poured herself out in worship in the presence of Jesus? What does this mean for us today? We hope you'll join us at either one of our two worship services on Sunday!

8:30 am and 9:45 am worship services

Our JAM (Jesus and Me) Children's Ministry meets at 9:45 am for children ages 3 years old through the fifth grade.

Childcare is available for children birth through 2 years old in our nursery during both worship service times on Sunday mornings

UPCOMING SERMONS

During October, our sermon series will explore what it looks like to live "A Life that Leads".

In order to lead, we must first follow Jesus. We will be considering some of the basic practices of the Christian faith and how they can  transform us towards the likeness of Christ.
