Healthy Church Initiative Updates

We have continued to make wonderful progress towards the prescriptions we accepted as part of the recent HCI!

We are forming two new teams to address our next two prescriptions. If you'd like to be considered to be part of one of these teams, please complete the online application on our website or mobile app. There are also paper application forms located at the Welcome Desk.  Applications need to be submitted by January 21st.

The team members will be selected by our HCI Coach, Rev Jon Spalding, and Pastor Tim.

Here are descriptions of the teams:

Congregational Care: The Pastor, in consultation with the Coach, will name a Care Team no later than January 31, 2018. This team will develop a lay-led congregational care system to create a culture of love and support.

Congregational Identity and Unifying Vision: The Pastor and Leadership Team, in consultation  with the Coach, will develop a Vision Team by January 31, 2018. This team will be comprised of a cross section of the congregation including members from both worship services. This team will work with the Coach and Roger Ross (Director of Congregational Excellence, Missouri Conference) to develop a visioning process and strategy by June 30, 2018.

Join Jack & Sue Engsberg about their trip to ISRAEL this Sunday, 1/14!

Based upon their recent trip to Israel, Jack and Sue Engsberg will integrate bible passages with their Israel locations during two presentations.  The first presentation will be Sunday January 14 (during the 2nd service in the choir room) and will focus on the old testament.  The second presentation will be  January 28 (during the 2nd service in the choir room) and will focus on the new testament.

   Sermon Series

resolution.jpg

We began a new series, RE:SOLUTION, last Sunday and we posed a different question than we may typically ask ourselves as we begin a New Year:

"What breaks your heart?"

If you missed the message from week one, you can view it here:  https://tinyurl.com/Dec31Worship

You can view the message from week two (last Sunday) here:  https://tinyurl.com/January7worship

We will continue exploring this question on Sunday with a passage often read at weddings from 1 Corinthians 13:1-3 (NLT).

A common observation in our culture is that believers (Christians) are often content to believe something rather than do something. We are known for what (we think) we know and not always for what we do to make a positive change in the world around us. So what do you think? Is this a true observation?

How can this possibly help us answer the question, "What breaks your heart?"

Let's find out together on Sunday!

We offer three worship experiences on Sundays!

Our 9:45 am worship service includes modern Christian music led by our amazing praise team.

9:45 am Worship songs:

"Let the Praises Ring"
"All Because of Jesus" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WmJbi-2tyH0
"Our God" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=01Yj7H-eSjM
"Doxology" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RR4bBnmFGHA
"This is Amazing Grace" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XFRjr_x-yxU

If you are travelling or staying at home with flu, you can join us online at 9:45 am. This service will be streaming live via our Eureka United Methodist Church Facebook page and Facebook Live.

Our 8:30 am worship service includes traditional Christian hymns led by our wonderful choir.

8:30 am hymns:
"Come Christians Come to Sing" UMH 158
"Jesus Thine All Victorious Love" UMH 422
"Sent Forth by God's Blessing" UMH 664

Childcare (birth through 2 years old) is available during both worship services.

Our JAM (Jesus and Me) Children's Ministry, ages 3 years old through the 5th grade, meet each Sunday at 9:45 am

Our XP3 Youth (grades 6-12) meet on the second and fourth Sundays of each month.

deep love.jpg

Question: Do you know any other human being?

If you answered "yes", then the DEEP LOVE sermon series and Bible study is for you! This will be great for singles, dating couples, grandparents, moms, dads, married couples, plumbers...anyone who knows at least one other human being. While much of the content of this series speaks about marriage relationships, the reality is that every relationship in your life will benefit from the wonderful, biblical wisdom and teaching during these four weeks.

We also encourage you to connect with a Life Group during these four weeks to grow deeper in your faith, your relationship with others, and your relationship with Christ. Not sure how to connect to one of our Life Groups? Start here! Simply send an e mail to lifegroups@eurekaumc.org to get connected.

If you are currently leading a Life Group or Sunday School class, please send an e mail to lifegroups@eurekaumc.org to learn how your group can also participate in this amazing experience.

All members and friends of Eureka UMC will also have the opportunity to participate in a comprehensive, online relationship assessment This assessment will generate a custom, 10 page report that will help you to identify strengths and weaknesses in your key relationship(s) More information about this assessment will be shared during the sermon series.

Thank you! Did you know that we reached over 11,000 people with our Christmas Eve promo videos on social media? That is awesome and it went a long way towards us welcoming 601 people to our Christmas Eve services on December 24th.

Social media is a wonderful (and very powerful) medium that we can utilize to share the Good News of Jesus Christ! Please "share" our Facebook posts for our Deep Love series over the next few weeks. Your simple "share" will reach at least 150 people. This is more than attaining a certain amount of 'clicks' or 'views'; it is about inviting people to experience God's passionate and relentless love for them; we just have the amazing privilege to be co workers with Christ in his life changing redemptive work in this world.

Who's life will be forever changed because of your invitation?

Upcoming opportunities to Connect, Grow, or Serve through EUMC

Hello Potential Missioners,

Just a reminder that next Saturday is the second Saturday of the month and time for another day of being the hands and feet of God.

Sorry I don't have any information right now as to exactly what work we will be doing - how many people we have and their skills tends to determine what we do.

Most likely we will be at Laurel Acres which is off Antire Rd or maybe at a house off of Highway W.

Let me know if you can make it. We are grateful for whatever time you can spend.

I will have a better idea of what work needs to be done on Thursday/Friday and will send out a note to let you know what to plan for and where to meet.

Regards,

Larry
