FAQ Sermon Series continues on Sunday, July 23rd!
Several months ago we provided an online survey for members and friends of Eureka UMC to share questions you have about Jesus, God, the Bible, faith and how this all relates to your life. There were some great questions asked as part of this survey! We addressed a few questions from the survey last week and will explore a few more questions this week. Among the questions we will explore are:
"Why is there evil in the world?"
"What is spiritual warfare?"
"Who is Satan and where did Satan come from?"
Maybe you've considered similar questions yourself. Perhaps you've dismissed these claims as fanciful metaphors. You are invited to join us as we explore these real questions from real people in a message titled "Living the Supernatural Faith". We will again be referring to various texts from 1 & 2 Peter.
You will want to be there on Sunday as we explore these real questions from real people!
We offer two distinct worship services on Sunday morning. Our 9:45 am contemporary worship service includes modern Christian music led by 'midnight prayer', our amazing praise band. Our JAM (Jesus and Me) Children's Ministry also meets at9:45 am for ages 3 years old through the fifth grade.

We are once again collecting backpacks to give to families in need in advance of the new school year. Please visit the "backpack tree" located near the Welcome Desk this Sunday, retrieve a tag, and return the backpack and contents by July 30th. Eagle Lake Day Camp and Pre-School Mini Camp, July 31-August 4
It is amazing to think that we will be welcoming at least 206 Eagle Lake Campers, 28 Mini Campers, 45 Eagle Lake staff counselors, and dozens of volunteers to our camps every day in just over a week! As you can imagine, it is no small task to organize and implement such a wonderful event like this for our community. If you are still looking for a place to serve and to make a difference in the life of a child (or hundreds of children), please contact our Director of Family Ministries, Jenny Babb at email@example.com. Thank you in advance for your willingness to serve!

Street Teams are forming for the August 18th Concerts on Central!
Have you ever dreamed of being a 'roadie'? You know, travelling around the country and setting up the staging and equipment for your favorite band? Here's your chance!
Do you like meeting new people? Are you a 'natural' when it comes to interacting with people? PERFECT...there's a place for you on the streetteam!
The August 18th Concert on Central is fully sponsored by us, the members and friends of Eureka UMC! This is 'bridge event", simply an awesome opportunity for us to connect with the families in our community. Part of the success of this event depends on awesome volunteers like you.
Please consider how you can help make this the best Concert on Central Eureka has ever had! Our praise band, Midnight Prayer, has been busy rehearsing as the opening band for the event. And our special guest, Nashville recording artist Clayton Jones, has been in the studio recording new material for release later this year.
All volunteers for this event will receive a free, custom STREET TEAM AND "I'M WITH THE BAND" T shirt!

Guatemala Mission Trip 2018: We are organizing a mission team to return to Guatemala, March 9-March 19, 2018. This trip is open to everyone 16 years and older. There are only 18 spots available for this mission trip and we expect this trip to be full. Please read the full description and registration instructions by clicking the "Guatemala Mission Trip" link on the front page of our website at www.eurekaumc.org.
There is an informational meeting about this amazing mission trip on Sunday, August 20th at 11:00 am. Please contact the Guatemala Team Leader, Cathy Westbury, at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Would you like to be part of our Prayer Warrior Team? Each Monday morning we send out a list of prayer requests, over email, for this team to pray over for the week. If you would like to be added to this team just send your email to the church office at eumc01@sbcglobal and we’ll get you added!
Philippians 4:6-7 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
It has been an amazing week at Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary! The seminary is on the shore of Lake Michigan, located near the center of Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, Although I am only here for two weeks, preparation for this onsite portion of my studies began in October with thousands of pages of reading, hundreds of pages of papers to write, and numerous online discussion forums with the professors and other students. It is great to be able to finally gather, face to face, with my professors and fellow students. These class times, as always, are both challenging and invigorating. One of the things I appreciate about this structure of "learning as you lead" is the opportunity to employ what I have learned at seminary into our local ministry setting and community right away.
I am looking forward to being back in town for our worship services this Sunday. Have a great rest of the week and I'll see you on Sunday!
