Yesterday afternoon I walked to the end of the street to retrieve our mail. On the way back to the house I encountered a mom and her two young sons; this was a family that I had not met before. I said, "hello" as I approached them. She replied, "hello, are you the American Ninja guy?" I was taken back for a split second thinking that maybe she had mistaken me for one of the fine tuned athletes, like Drew Drechesel, from the very popular American Ninja Warrior competition. I was quickly drawn back to reality when she followed up by saying "I mean, are you with the Methodist Church?" I shared that I was one of the pastors and that we were indeed hosting this amazing event for the kids and families in our community. She went on to say how her two sons were looking forward to the obstacle course on Sunday. I thanked her for her interest in the event and gave her one of our "You Belong Here" reminder cards with details about our American Ninja Warrior Kid's Course and details about our worship times and children's and youth ministries.
This is a conversation that may have never happened, at least like this, without this event. Honestly, this event is not about American Ninja Warrior, it's about Jesus. It's about cultivating connections with families in our community which will lead to conversation like the one that I had yesterday.
This event is shaping up to be TWICE as large as our recent Eagle Lake Camp. We will have the opportunity to make a lot of connections with families and children on Sunday. My hope is that you will be part of this amazing event. Please contact Jenny, our Director of Family Ministries, to learn how you can be placed in some new areas to serve as this event continues to grow. She can be reached at email@example.com
This event is not about equipping kids to be ninjas.
It's about connecting with kids and families so that they may encounter Jesus.
Thank you for being part of a congregation that values children and reaching this next generation with the Good News of Jesus Christ!
Grace and peace,
"You Belong Here"
This Sunday, we are part of a movement with 10,000 other churches nationwide connected with National Back to Church Sunday, 2018.
This is an amazing weekend to return to church if 'life happens' has prevented you from being present during the hectic summer months. This is an amazing weekend to invite your neighbors, friends, co workers, or family members to join you on Sunday morning.
Something wonderful is happening at Eureka UMC. We are seeing God move in amazing ways in and through us; lives are being changed. We invite you to be part of God's work in our midst!
We are reminded in Ephesians 2:20 (MSG), " You belong here, with as much right to the name Christian as anyone. God is building a home. He’s using us all—irrespective of how we got here—in what he is building."

Research shows that guests will make up their minds regarding a new church in the first ten minutes of their visit.
"Often, before a first-time guest has sung an inspiring song or watched a compelling drama or viewed a well-produced video vignette or heard a well-crafted sermon, they have made up their mind whether or not to return."
All this means is that the our church's ability to connect with first time guests is dependent on the people who are serving in our Hospitality Ministry. If you think you would like to be a part of this important ministry, I want to invite you to attend one of our Hospitality Training Sessions. We will be discussing what we do, and why we do it, and how you can volunteer. Please consider joining us for one of the dates listed below. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to Pastor Suzanne Nicholson. 314 707 9206 email@example.com
