"Stable of Hope" (photo of Chris and Jess, they will be married at EUMC on December 16th)
There have been a lot of changes inside the church building since last Sunday! An amazing group of youth and adults decorated the sanctuary and other areas with Christmas trees and other Christmas decorations. Jack Engsberg constructed two stables to remind us of the Advent of Christ as we move towards Christmas; thank you Jack!
When you arrive on Sunday morning, or at any other time during the week, we want to encourage you to take a selfie, a family photo, or a group photo each week at the stable in our Commons Area. This Sunday, we are calling it the "Stable of Hope". Capture a photo, post it on social media, 'check in' to Eureka UMC, and add a description if you'd like, and finally use this week's hashtag; #JesusIsHope. Let's flood our community with amazing images of our families and spread the message of HOPE!
Next Sunday, the sign on the stable will change to LOVE! We will continue this through out the month of December. We thank you in advance of being part of this fun way to share your faith!
December 9, #JesusIsLove
December 16, #JesusIsJoy
December 23, #JesusIsPeace
December 24, #JesusIsGodWithUs
This is the best time of the year to invite someone to church. The. Best. Time. It's not the only time; you can invite someone to church anytime! But there is something about Christmas that demonstrates people are much more likely to come if someone just invites them. One of the ways that you can invite people is by simply 'sharing' our weekly Faceook posts. During December, there will be a new, short video to share each week. Here is the link to this week's video:
Sharing is easy (it takes less than 1 second) and it is powerful. When you share, you reach people exponentially. When one person 'shares' a Eureka UMC post, it will reach on average, 150 people. Can we achieve 50 shares this week and each week during the month of December? We can EASILY 'share' our way to reaching 30,000 people with the Good News of Jesus Christ before Christmas Eve. To put it into perspective, we could reach the 30,000 people that live within 5 miles of Eureka UMC with a postcard. We could certainly do that...and it would cost us over $12,000.00. Or we can just share one post each week and reach 30,000 people and it will cost us nothing.
Thank you in advance for 'sharing' our way towards reaching 30,000 people on social media this Christmas Season!
*This past week, we reached 1,800 people on Facebook. Let's see if we can reach 7,500 next week! Look for the update in the weekly e mail!

December 30 "The Wonder Years"
Have you ever wondered what Jesus' life was like during his 'middle school' years? We will explore a unique passage from Luke 2
that gives us the only glimpse that we have of Jesus during his youth.
We will begin 2019 with a compelling sermon series, "Decisions: Burdens or Opportunities". We all face decisions in our lives:
"Where should I go to school?"
"Who should I marry?"
"Should I start a family?"
"What is my career path?"
"How do I care for my aging parents?"
"How do I handle end of life decisions?"
We will explore how to approach these, and other decisions, through the lens of God's Word.
January 6: "Making Decisions for Me" Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT
January 13: "Making Decisions with Others" Proverbs 16:1-3 MSG
January 20: "Making Decisions With My Church" Matthew 28:16-20 NIV
Blue Christmas: When Christmas Hurts
For those looking for Comfort Hope and Wholeness
We all experience losses in life that leave us feeling anything but hopeful during this time of year. Christmas can be a time when many of us need the reassurance and comfort that God is with us no matter what. Perhaps you are grieving over the loss of a loved one, struggling with illness, or experiencing the loss of a job. You may wonder how you will get through the holidays. If you or someone you know, needs extra reassurance this season, I want to invite you to join us for A Blue Christmas Service: When Christmas Hurts. We will gather for worship in the sanctuary on Sunday December 16th at 6:30 p.m.
The Christmas season doesn't begin in St. Louis without the Ambassadors of Harmony!
This December, the Ambassadors of Harmony chorus will once again rekindle the joy and magic of the holidays with its always popular Sounds of the Season concert.
Celebrate with the Ambassadors as the chorus puts on five heartwarming concerts filled with musical favorites that will get you in the spirit. The show has become a yearly tradition over the past three decades by combining comedy and the lighter side of popular holiday songs with classic carols and sacred music that tell the story of the season.
We invite you to join Sean Stewart, our choir director and a member of the Ambassadors of Harmony, on Sunday, December 9th at 7pm for this amazing performance. If you would like to attend, please contact choir member Carol Wellons at email@example.com for tickets. Transportation will be provided through the Eureka UMC bus.
