I hope that you and your family enjoyed a Merry Christmas! Christmas Eve was quite busy at Eureka UMC; we welcomed over 600 people during our three worship services, including at least ELEVEN new families that completed a 'first time guest' connect card. Our new 3pm service was very well received with 164 people in attendance. Our 5pm service continued to be our highest attended service with 202 people in attendance. Our 8pm service was also very well attended with 170 people in attendance. All three services were live streamed this year and we welcomed approximately 20 people online during each service for a total of 65 people in attendance online. A big thank you to the numerous volunteers, musicians, and staff who served tirelessly to ensure that our members and guests experienced a wonderful Christmas Eve worship service!
2018 has been a wonderful year! It has been a year of creating and equipping teams and laity for ministry. Dozens of new families have found a connection at EUMC this past year. Our Vision Team is excited to share our new Vision for Eureka UMC for 2019 and beyond beginning in January. We are thrilled with the response to our new Family Room Worship Site and are looking forward to launching the new Celebrate Recovery ministry and worship service in April.
As we bring 2018 to a close, I ask you to consider how you can help Eureka UMC end this year on a strong financial footing so that we can continue existing ministries and be positioned to launch new ministries; creating New Places for New People. You can make an end of the year gift during the worship service on Sunday or at anytime through our mobile app or online at eurekaumc.org. As always, there are always opportunities to make a significant gift towards a unique opportunity at Eureka UMC. Special gifts resurfaced the parking lots this year and also allowed us to enhance our online streaming. We have learned that many of our 'first time guests' have actually been joining us online for several weeks or months before stepping into the church for the first time on a Sunday morning. A few of the unique opportunities before us right now include new video editing equipment and initial funding for the Celebrate Recovery ministry. If you would like to contribute a financial gift towards either of these areas, please contact the church office at 636-938-6377 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you for all that you do to ensure that we continue to do the primary thing that Jesus commissioned us to do, 'to make new disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world'.
Grace and peace,
Have you ever noticed that the Bible seems to go from the birth of Jesus to his earthly ministry, about 30 years later, in the blink of an eye? What was Jesus like as a toddler or a teenager? While the Bible is largely silent during Jesus' formative years, the Gospel of Luke does contain a short passage about Jesus as a 12 year old boy. Why is this single story included in just one of the four gospels? What can we learn from the young Jesus? Let's find out together on Sunday! Pastor Tim will be preaching from Luke 2:41-52, a sermon titled "The Wonder Years".
We gather for two distinct expressions of worship on Sunday mornings at our 8:30 am and 9:45 am worship services
Our JAM (Jesus and Me) Children's Ministry meets at 9:45 am for children ages 3 years old through the fifth grade. Childcare is available for children birth through 2 years old in our nursery during both worship service times on Sunday mornings
We will begin 2019 with a compelling sermon series, "Decisions: Burdens or Opportunities". We all face decisions in our lives:
"Where should I go to school?"
"Who should I marry?"
"Should I start a family?"
"What is my career path?"
"How do I care for my aging parents?"
"How do I handle end of life decisions?"
We will explore how to approach these, and other decisions, through the lens of God's Word.
January 6: "Making Decisions for Me" Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT
January 13: "Making Decisions with Others" Proverbs 16:1-3 MSG
January 20: "Making Decisions With My Church" Matthew 28:16-20 NIV
We invite you to participate in a short survey as we prepare for our January sermon series, "Decisions: Burdens or Opportunities".
Your honest (and anonymous) input will be helpful as we prepare these upcoming sermons.

With just a few weeks left in 2018, we ask you to please review your year-to-date giving statements that were mailed today (Thursday). We thank you for your generosity and ask you to prayerfully consider how you can help "close the gap" so that we can finish 2018 on a solid financial footing.
