Overflow

About 15 years ago, when I owned a contracting business, I remember being called to a customer's home to look at a repair project. I arrived at the house and they led me into the kitchen and pointed to the bulging ceiling. I returned to my truck to retrieve some tools and a bucket. After a few quick jabs with a screwdriver into the drywall, water began to gush out. The second floor bathtub had overflowed. I then began to remove the damaged drywall, positioned a few fans to dry everything out, and over the course of the next two weeks completed all of the drywall repairs, and repainted the first floor ceilings.

Six months later, I was called back. Their young children had overflowed the tub again.

Nine months after that, I was called back. The tub overflowed again! There was a serious conversation about leaving the drywall off the ceiling until the kids were grown. They elected to complete all of the repairs again...for the third time.

And finally, about six months later, the tub overflowed again and the entire process was repeated!

Needless to say, these homeowners were not fond of the word overflow. An overflowing tub creates all sorts of problems, inconveniences, and a drain on your cash flow.

But when it comes to the love of God, overflow is good. It is really good. When the love of God overflows in our lives, we can experience the joy of our salvation, the forgiveness of our sins, the restoration of our relationships, freedom from addiction, and an anchor of hope during the most difficult seasons of our lives.

How has God's love overflowed into your life?

How is God calling you, calling me, calling his church to ensure that this love overflows from us and into the world around us?

"May the Lord make your love increase and overflow for each other and for everyone else, just as ours does for you." 1 Thessalonians 3:12

 Connect. Thrive. Overflow.

 See you on Sunday!

 Pastor Tim

(Jeff making one of his first runs through the Texas Terrain Park five years ago)

During our year of discernment, God kept leading our Vision Team to the word overflow. The team has discerned that this is an important part of the new, unifying vision that God is calling us to live in to. But what does it mean to allow God's love to overflow into our lives? Into the lives of our families? Into the lives of people in our community?

Pastor Tim will be preaching from John 4 on Sunday, and considering some biblical wisdom and insight regarding what it looks like for us to allow God's love to overflow into our community.

We gather for two distinct expressions of worship on Sunday mornings at our 8:30 am and 9:45 am worship services

Our JAM (Jesus and Me) Children's Ministry meets at 9:45 am for children ages 3 years old through the fifth grade. Childcare is available for children birth through 2 years old in our nursery during both worship service times on Sunday mornings

*We will be celebrating the baptism of Brody Andrew Saitz at the 9:45 am service

**We will be recognizing and awarding the "God and Me" and the "God and Family" awards to 13 Scouts who just completed the P.R.A.Y. program through Eureka UMC..

This is truly an exciting time at Eureka UMC! We are casting our new, unique vision for Eureka UMC for 2019 and beyond. This has been the result of a year of prayer and discernment from our Vision Team as they listened and responded to the promptings of God's Holy Spirit.

We began on Sunday, January 27th and considered how a paddle board represents the Mission of the church and the rudder represents God's Vision for Eureka UMC.

Last Sunday, February 10th, we were unable to gather for our Sunday morning worship services. Pastor Tim did broadcast a sermon and conversation at 9:45 am last Sunday through Facebook Live. You can view this video by opening this link:

Please choose the meeting that best fits into your schedule:

Sunday, March 10th at 11:00 am in the Sanctuary
