Adult Mission Trips
PANAJACHEL, GUATEMALA 2018
The Mission Guatemala trip to Panajachel was a great success and we appreciate all of those who volunteered their time to this wonderful mission. We had three 'fun' days build into the trip in addition to the 5 days of working side by side with the local people on projects that contribute to their community.
For an overview of last year's work see 2016 Mission Trip.
Each member of last year's team returned with more than they gave.
"It was humbling to finally be the one giving help rather than just taking it. Probably my biggest take away was seeing these people who have nothing compared to me and yet they always has a smile on their face!"
-- Jonathan, member of 2016 team
"For me it was understanding I was finding my source of happiness in the wrong places."
-- Corey, member of the 2016 team

Feed My Starving Children
Feed My Starving Children is a non-profit Christian organization committed to feeding God’s children hungry in body and spirit. The approach is simple: children and adults hand-pack meals specifically formulated for malnourished children, and we ship these meals to nearly 70 countries around the world. Click here to visit Feed My Starving Children's website.
EUMC typically sends several groups of youth and adults to pack meals at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Manchester. To find out more about these mobile packing events, click here.
The most recent meal packing event (October 2018) was very successful! Over 816,480 meals were packaged! Check out where the meals were sent by reading the thank you letter from Feed My Starving Children Team below.
FROM THE FEED MY STARVING CHILDREN TEAM:
Dear Feed My Starving Children Pack Partners,
With your help in 2017, at the pack hosted by Good Shepherd Lutheran, together we packed 816,480 meals!!! This means that 2,237 kids were fed for a year. Those 816,480 meals were sent to children in the following locations: 217,728 meals went to Syria to Love in Action International; 132,192 meals went to El Salvador to Cross International; 217,728 meals went to Haiti to Love A Child; and 248,832 meals went to Guatemala to Food for the Poor! What a blessing to those most desperately in need. As you can see the FMSC food has made a life and death difference to so many children around the world.
Our pack dates in 2018 will be Wednesday October 10 through Sunday, October 14. Our prayerful goal for 2018 is 850,000 meals ($187,000) so that 2,329 kids will be fed for a year!!! This would be an increase from 2017 of 92 additional children fed for a year! Please share this information, and the attached Lenten Challenge, to the members of your congregation. If you collect your member’s donations, please write checks to Feed My Starving Children Pack # 1810-094AU. Mail all checks from your congregation to: Attn: Carrie Wiggins, Feed My Starving Children, 555 Exchange Court, Aurora, IL 60504.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for your support as, together, we work to eradicate hunger . . . one child at a time!
Joyfully in Christ,
Chaplain Suzie Everingham and the Feed My Starving Children Team
